MP3Fiesta Continues to Grow Despite Doubling Prices… - 07-19-2008, 11:36 AM

MP3Fiesta had been a solid recommendation by aom3.org community for a very long time, until during May 2008, MP3Fiesta literally doubled their prices from $0.10 to $0.20 per track. While still very cheap in comparison to other mainstream digital music shops, they dropped themselves down 3 places to 5th spot when comparing price/track.

That may well be true, but they have not done it with my money, and probably never will.

P.S. Perhaps if they keep it up they will attract the attention of the IFPI/RIAA. There are far better cheaper sites now, so much choice.

Procol Harum's A Whiter Shade of Pale is the most played song in public places in the last 75 years, according to a chart compiled for BBC Radio 2. (April 2009)

Once upon a time (not so long ago), I was also so very blue eyed thinking that a high Alexa ranking meant that an online music store simply had to be a MASSIVE success story and therefore had to be raking in money

Now I know better

In the case of MP3Fiesta, Alexa is not just misleading but WILDLY misleading, since they must have AT LEAST 10,000 'camouflaged' front end blogs trying to lure in customers - and each time someone with the Alexa toolbar installed enters from one of these blog sites, it is going to look like MP3Fiesta had a deliberate visitor to their site - and many will even think they have had yet another satisfied customer

A couple of other of these Russian/Ukrainian online music stores (which shall remain nameless - for now) have the very same cunning practice - but in a MUCH smaller scale

And now we're at it anyway: How did they ONLY fall from 3rd to 5th place in the 'best price' ranking???

They went from 2nd to LAST (shared with MP3Xclusive, MP3Shake and MP3City)

www.MP3Shake.com $0.20

All prices are for single tracks (BEFORE any discount/bonus is deducted)

All stores except The Lavamus Network ones offer a discount, if you purchase the full album

>> they dropped themselves down 3 places to 5th spot

can somebody explain how this was calculated, 2->5? i think the way solaris
explained (down to last) makes much more sense, and seems to be accurate.

but i wouldnt mind hearing two sides - i am out of FIESTA almost anyhow already,
not plainly for the $0.20, but for the way they did (not ever) announce it.

greets - henry

1. Please read the article again, as I believe I stated a growth in visitor traffic, not in sales.

2. Alexa changed their algorithms recently to provide a much greater accuarcy, by using multiple sources rather than their toolbar. But never did i claim in the article that it was 100% accurate. However solaris if you have developed a web statistical system yourself, I would glady refer it in my article

If you have proof to back up your speculation, then i would glady look into it.

The ranking of price was based on grouped data from the comparison table.

You're right, aom3, you did - but it doesn't change the fact that the reason they seemingly have such a vast amount of traffic is because of all those thousands of blog site front ends

I will be more than happy to PM you each and every link to these blog front ends but then you'll have to promise to raise my inbox amount to 10,000 because I'm most certainly going to need it

Incorrect. You do not know the relationship between MP3fiesta and those sites, and im guessing your assuming. I do not know either, but I have over 10 years experience in web administrating and development.
Most of all (around 90%) of those blogs do not get any traffic at all and they are there either for seo purposes or those blogs are advertising MP3fiesta to earn a bit of money, but the traffic from those blogs is minimal compared to the direct traffic from visitors. This the what the stats I posted show, not the amount of spam, links etc.. but the visitor counts.

Its no difficult as you can use a search command in google to find links to a website. But sorry my friend, can't raise the inbox limit, your just gonna have to move facebook or myspace to talk to your misses

Like almost everything else you and I discuss in this forum, we don't see eye to eye on it - and we could probably be discussing this till our mother star enters the last phase of its life cycle in about 7 billion years

Ahh, you DO know that one can do that...

My 'misses' (as you like to call them ) ALREADY communicate through other channels, which once again shows how little you know about what kind of workload Nightfly and I have beneath the surface of this forum

Note: Lastly I have to compliment you on the fact that your use of emoticons has improved VASTLY since the last time you and I had an 'encounter' in this forum, which also meant that I ALMOST didn't feel offended by that last remark
