Musical tastes linked to personality -
09-05-2008, 07:06 AM
"Musical tastes and personality type are closely related, according to a study of more than 36,000 people from around the world.
The research, which was carried out by Professor Adrian North of Heriot Watt University, is said to be the largest such study ever undertaken.
It suggested classical music fans were shy, while heavy metal aficionados were gentle and at ease with themselves. (my italics)
Professor North described the research as "significant" and "surprising".
Full story here.
So, as we thought all along (Slipknot Anyone?)Chris is just a big softie.

If you have one watch you know what the time is. But if you have two you don't know which one is right.
The more advice you get the more confusing it becomes.

Split personality?
Wouldn't have anything to do with multiple identities by any chance!

But I love the description for Reggae "not hardworking".....now that's a bit of a cliche....

Yes, I think they got that one just about right.
As for me:
BLUES High self-esteem, creative, outgoing, gentle and at ease.
COUNTRY Hardworking, outgoing.
High self-esteem - not sure about that.
Creative - yes I'm pretty good with my hands (or so I've been told!)
Outgoing - I suppose so.
Gentle and at ease - definitely, I'm a Libra aren't I!
Hardworking - Unfortunately so, I wish I could retire.

Ashley,
I don't know how scientific this one is..I think with a little thought,
we could have came up with these descriptions as well.
But they are fun to consider. I listen to every thing really but,
I have to say the first to genres they have are are Blues and Jazz and that's
what I listen to mostly..and their description was pretty accurate....

As scientific as most of these surveys I should think.
As you say I think we could probably have arrived at similar conclusions based on what people post here and their musical tastes.
I too have a fairly eclectic taste in music and listen to most things apart from dance, rap and the like, but I tend towards blues/country during the day and softer stuff at night.
