Pandora On the Verge of Closing Shop - 08-18-2008, 12:14 PM

Pandora is an internet radio service that allows you to create your own radio station based on songs and artists that you like. While you can't necessarily pick and choose what you'll hear on the service, you can fine-tune your radio station's tastes by giving the songs that Pandora recommends a thumbs up or a thumbs down. Pandora on the iPhone is one of the best applications for streaming music and finding new tunes. So, what will the service's 1 million plus users do if Pandora pulls its own plug?

Isn't it ironic that the music industry is run by those who seem to have very little interest in, or, love for music. Money is their only motivation.

Petty, greedy, cynical, hateful, bitter, vindictive, spiteful, I could go on but you all get it.

hopefully not, until they earn the money from last.fm (come on, you knew it )

MP3skyline archmage. Over 3 100 000 tunes - ain't it magic?
one, two - buckle my shoe, three, four - shut the door, five, six - pick up sticks, seven, eight - lay em straight

This is really sad news for me because I love Pandora. It's the only radio station I can stand to listen to, and that includes the satellite radio stations.

I realize that it costs artists and labels money to make music and that they must be compensated, but how do they make any money if they drive Pandora out of business? Not only do they not get any royalties, they don't get the critical exposure they need for other revenue streams.
