Alltunes Application - 11-10-2008, 04:34 PM

Has anyone else having problem with the application for Alltunes?

I was prompted to upgrade this morning. After the installation, I tried to login, but I keep getting an error:

"Cannot create c:\old.xml. Access Denied."

Any ideas?

Hi Spazz

Are you running allTunes from a User account? This I think won't have write permissions for c:\ Try running allTunes from an Administrator account. Just a thought, I haven't had time to test this yet.

I've got the same problem, which I think is because we are both running Windows Vista and the developers haven't heard of it.

You can get round the problem by running AllTunes as an administrator (right-click and select) but I don't advise it. Firstly it gives them much more access to your machine. Secondly it downloads dozens of catalog updates. Thirdly it eats up your memory until the machine hangs. And finally when you restart it fails with a message about "assertion failure".

Sadly you can't contine to run the old version either.

Me, I've de-installed it and gone back to the old way of downloading using MP3Sparks.

The new version can be downloaded from alltunes.com so for anyone who is really stuck, maybe a fresh install would do the trick. Maybe.

This is becoming a known problem. Hopefully, they will send out an update soon <sigh>.

What method or download manager do you use for MP3Sparks?

I've been using right-click and "save as", but I'd forgotten how tedious it is. So I've just resurrected an old Windows XP machine, installed the new version of AllTunes and I'm off again. Let's hope an update turns up soon.
