Try right-clicking on one of the problem pages and choose Encoding, it should be using Cyrillic (Windows) - code page 1251. This code page should be installed by default, but you can go to Control Panel>Regional and Language Options>Advanced and check that 1251 (ANSI-Cyrillic) is present and ticked. Possibly this code page has been corrupted. It might also be worth flushing your Temporary Internet Files cache (IE>Tools>Internet Options>General>Delete Files). It has been suggested that malware can cause this type of problem too, so make sure your anti-virus and anti-spyware programs are up to date.
Solaris, please stop telling me to fix stuff. I need sleep.
EDIT: even if you don't

GM et al (except the fast cash jerk),
You folks are really nice to try to help, but again, all of your suggestions didn't work. I use Avast Anti-Virus, Ad-Aware and Spybot in the anti-bad guy department and have cleaned my computer with scans since the problem arose, so I don't think that's the problem. I'm going to try one more thing - I use Firefox as my browser, so I'll try switching to Internet Explorer as the default and see if that works. Otherwise, I'll just go out and buy a magnifying glass commensurate with my old-man eyes!
