Future of mp3xclusive - 07-06-2008, 09:08 PM

Hi guys,
I'm very happy I finally find this forum. I tracked the development of mp3xclusive formerly mp3 skyline over the last month and must admit that actual state is not very satisfying. I had the several versions of Skyline Manager installed, was annoyed for being accounted for download that ended in errors or did not contain the song I bought and so on. When I checked Skyline Manager today I noted a reduced song repertoire - songs I found last time but could not download were now taken completely offline.
Summing up: all these problems that are still present let arise the question if there's some kind of solution e.g. refund or transfer of the balance to another provider?
Many thanks in advance for helping a forum newbie

You must resolve your problem directly with Mp3xclusive's assistance.
The site rep no longer posts here. These are issues that we have no
control over are unable to assist you with.

Ask them for a refund and be persistant, and than take that money,
put it in another shop with a better customer service record.

Get back to us and let us know how it goes and welcome to the Forum..

I decompiled their software and I don't really know much about Java, but from the looks of it, when you go to download it checks you have enough in your balance and sends back the download URL. I think that the same script which sends back your download URL also deducts your balance rather than any checks in the software itself.

There are various 'statuses' given to your download, status 4 is an error. It would be nice that if it changed to status 4 that it sent a call to the API to credit you back, however people could easily re-compile the software so that even upon successful download it called the API up.

I don't know if there is any way to re-download what you have paid for, I haven't had any balance with them since they advent of their useless software, maybe another user can comment on that.

To be honest, I dont think you have a good chance of a refund

As for getting your balance transfered, I dunno about that, maybe it depends how generous they are feeling

By the way, I've been able to consistently download albums through Skyline Manager the last few months and I've reduced my balance from over $40 to $13.66.

Hi OverLord and welcome to the forum

You are absolutely right: It doesn't look too good for MP3Xclusive and the possibility of a (near) full restore of their once HUGE catalogue

I won't count them out just yet, though - but I sure am glad that I've only got $65 left in my account

I too have found that I can still download via the Skyshare manager, but it's still hard to forgive the Xclusive guys for screwing up one of the best sites around, then skulking off into the night without a word. That said, I've now transferred my allegiance to Lavamus. They may be guilty of dumping vast quantities of anonymous electro-schlock on us every night (I presume the latest keyboards actually start spewing out CDs the moment you switch them on) and listing the same albums at least twice to bump up their new release numbers, but so far it's proving pretty good. Let's hope they don't get any big ideas about developing a flash new download manager or moving their servers anytime soon . . .

I'm sure I could make use of it

I guess at least the site is still functional, and their forum does get the odd post from 'Support', so its not like they are completely dead.

Hey guys,
at first thank you sooo much for the warm welcome It's nice to meet you all! It's good to read your experiences, that gives me the feeling I wasn't fighting alone the last month with all these problems mp3xclusive "offered" us. Also thank you for the rich feedback.
ipodfan reassures me to give it a final try and spend a comfortable evening in front of the pc, trying to download all songs that come into my mind (...and are hopefully online).
That may be at first the easier way to use up my balance instead of trying to be refunded...

I remember wistfully the great day of mp3 skyline - this huge database of songs and the easy way to use the portal - it was great!

Kind regards to you all!
