MP3Skyline Request Line -
02-29-2008, 05:23 PM
I thought it might be worth having a thread where we could unload strictly requests for Skyforger/mp3skyline. It would be cool if the site itself had a link where we could make requests/suggestions, but hopefully this or Karlosfunkster's "recommendations" thread will do the trick. My first request: Nu Frequency ft. Shara Nelson "Go That Deep", with Charles Webster and Redanka remixes, out on Rebirth. Thanks, as always....

Don't know what Skyforger thinks, but I think that posting the request rather than PMing it is better. The reason for this is I am nosey and I like to see what other people are desperate to get their hand on . I always check out the stuff in these type of threads to see what I am missing ,
Cheers,

The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir -
02-29-2008, 09:37 PM
Hi Skyforger,
I am trying to get my hands on the first album by 'The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir':- I Bet You Say That to All the Boys. The is an excellent indie pop band similar to Belle & Sebastian and Camera Obscura and the reviews of the first album make it sound good. Here's hoping,
Cheers,
Dave C

Maaan... i don't know if starting this thread was the right thing to do. As an occasional DJ, i HATE being bombarded when requests when i wish people would just kick back and trust the DJ. i've found so much great stuff on mp3skyline, the last thing i would want to do is seem unappreciative by adding requests here. Skyforger, if requests are cool with you, great. if not, i'll refrain, and trust you guys to keep coming up with the unexpected gems...

I actually agree with BOTH views here!
What I think is cool though is finding out more about what people CAN'T get ahold off, so a public request forum like this is pretty cool as more often than not people enjoy finding out what other people like and it can often turn you on to good new stuff.
It's this type of digging that is fun, and digging through other people'ds collections/suggestions and tastes is quite interesting, don't you think.
No one expects that skyforger is going to pop into the russian Virgin Megastore and pick the stuff up for us...! I certainly hope Skyforger would take offence at POLITE requests?
Now....DJing...that's a whole other ball game. Youre there to make people dance and or be happy...yet really what you want to do is get them into music that YOU like! (that's what I do anyway!) And there's nothing more frustrating or annoying than someone coming over with requests as it seems like a slight which you can take very personally - as a DJ it can ruin your night.
I don't think our requests would ruin Skyforgers evening though.
If people tell him the selection is in someway awful though, perhaps this would have the same effect...and put plainly - it's probably the best selection AVAILABLE on the net (unless you collect strictly rock music).

We have started these forums because we have Site Representives
that want feedback and requests..They are hands on with their
customers and Skyforger is one of the best customer service people
around.
I'm sure that he welcomes requests like he has in the
past..How do you think he got one of the largest catalogue's
out there........

True, as far as DJing goes there's a big difference between good and bad requests. Good requests are always welcome; it means you've got an appreciative crowd who's paying attention. It's also true that Skyforger provides top quality customer service, and that's what I don't want to abuse. That said, if he welcomes requests, it would only make a great site that much better...
