Skyshare Manager v1.4.1 alpha -
08-28-2008, 05:10 PM
hi everyone!
i would like to announce the new alpha release of Skyshare Manager (v1.4.1).
what do have new here?
1. downloading functionality is now stable: you will never receive "Complete" status and only part of the downloaded song. New functions ensure that file has been delivered with 100% integrity
2. current download lists are being saved locally. you can close software and your d/l list will appear in the stack next time you launcn software
3. album covers were added to the according sections (we have restores somewhat 15% of all album covers now, more are to come soon)
4. general options were extended: you can now specify proxy if you're using one.
5. movies are sorted by letter now, and movies description (genres, actors, storyline) were added accordingly. movies are still free, of course
enough for now, i could forgot some new features, but definitely will post here i would like to ask you test new version and let me know your opinions/found bugs/suggestions, etc.
software might be updated from the regular link in "Your account" section, on both sites.
upgrade is HIGHLY recommended!
sincerelly,
Max

max, why not include a link to the new version?
and how to upgrade? is there a upgrade button in the old version? or just
overwrite the old one? doesnt work because you included version nbr in
the folder name, so they would just sit in parallel. any instructions anywhere?

Henry, you're somewhat right - it is not very obvious how to upgrade, however we will sort this out.
now you should get back to Manager page: mp3skyline.com: registration (you must be logged in)
you will see 1.4.1 in the headline, and software links below will indicate 1.4.1 as well. please download software and launch setup.
you will be prompted to install software to "\Skyshare Manager 1.4.1" folder, thus your old version will remain untouched. also you will see new shortcut in the Start menus. you can play around with new version and delete/uninstall the old one if everything is fine with 1.4.1.
hope that helps.
regards,
Max

UPD: i totally forgot to announce: downloads history is available in the software now: you will see "History" tab there. no more need to seek what you have downloaded on the site. also, re-downloads are free as usual - just hit the according download icon in the software History, and you will receive your track for free.
regards,
max

... which as you and i said would then leave both installations working.
as long as they have not put anything they rely on into the registry or
anywhere else, this should work.
if they did, it would lead to a fairly unstable system, specially if you decide
to erase (uninstall or what?) one of it. and what happens to 1.5.0 next
month? sorry, really something you should work on - to many people will
get totally confused.

agree that this is more important, yes. but i had, several times, and you
always kicked me out again, so after the 32nd time i decided to give up.
i know that one of the critaria is to use as many smilies as possible, and to
have a proper avatar, and since i, for technical reasons, can not oblidge with
that, i guess i have to wait in line, out in the rain.
