Hi kurt and welcome to the forum

Those tracks were certainly in the extensive MP3Skyline catalogue prior to their database breakdown fiasco in early February - but they have still neither removed the links nor (preferably) added the songs to their catalogue once again

That's why they are not shown in the Skyshare Manager - but visible on the website

There are two alternatives if you want this track but don't want to waste any dollar

If you are not yet a user of eMusic, then they have that track and give you 50 free downloads for signing up. Can't remember if its a subscription thing these days, if it is don't forget to cancel.
Searching For Soul: Rare And Classic Soul, Funk And Jazz From Michigan, 1968-1980 mp3s, Searching For Soul: Rare And Classic Soul, Funk And Jazz From Michigan, 1968-1980 music downloads, Searching For Soul: Rare And Classic Soul, Funk And Jazz From M

Or again if you are not yet a user of Lavamus, they give you 0.15c upon signup and have the album as well.

Lavamus.com album :: Various Artists Searching for Soul Rare and Classic Soul Funk and Jazz from Michigan 1968-1980 download-mp3 download mp3

If I were you I'd ditch skyline as soon as your balance dries up, their (original) catalog and Lavamus are pretty much alike with the exception being that Lavamus' is even larger, so you'll be sure to find what you look for on Skyline, on Lavamus and more.

I think that mp3skyline and exclusive are simply missleading the customers: they offer much bigger catalogue, get paid and then show NOTHING in their skyshare. I'm not sure what they do after that (I never got any reply) but I believe that this is the way they make their living now.

All the tracks were there, so it's not as bad as some affiliates or sites that scrape stuff like freeDB or Discogs and then pretend they have those tracks when they never have.

I don't know, obviously, but I'm guessing that they never lost their database, just maybe a few drives cocked up, and I reckon they've not bothered to prune the website database, but instead just make Skyshare etc check to see if they still have the track on their hard drives.

This would certainly be the way new(ish) (i.e. paying after February 6 2008) customers of their online music store would feel - and to be quite frank: rightfully so

Hi Ben

Would you care to elaborate a little on this theory of yours?

I can't quite figure out if you think that they do absolutely nothing to regain the missing tracks or if you believe they are merely making sure that everything is working perfectly before they make their grand return

I don't know really

I doubt they will get the tracks back. They may be there as a reference for themselves, ie kept there so they can go OK we need to replace these tracks, but just haven't done what mp3sale have done and changed those tracks to say coming soon.

You would think they would have had a reliable back-up available, to be able to resolve this sort of problem.
Failing that, I would have expected some sort of explanation or apology on their site by now, to let their loyal and frustrated customers know what is going on.
It is so disappointing to see their customer service being almost non-existent now, when it used to be so good in the days when Max was a regular contributor here
