eMusic review

MIDEM's Classical "Label of the Year" for 2008 will be celebrating its 35th year of existence that same year and, in celebration of that fact, they've seen fit to offer more than two hours of free classical music to eMusic users to get you ready for the festivities. Not a bad gift bag when you consider that BIS, one of Scandinavia's most respected classical imprints, is home to one of the world's finest flautists (Sharon Bezaly, heard here on Benjamin Godard's "Suite in 3 Movements, Op. 116: III. Valse"), arguably Holland's greatest pianist (Ronald Brautigam, heard here interpreting Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata") and so much more. Dig in — you won't be disappointed.

I have downloaded this one and it is a treat, and for absolutely Free
you can not go wrong. 27 Tracks and over 2 hours of various Composers
and performers from The Bis Catalog. Highly recommended to all
Emusic members.

Hi Nightfly,
I downloaded this one a few days ago & although it is not entirely my sort of thing, some of the tracks are okay and it was free. Do emusic 'give away' many albums like this one, and if they do is there any way of finding them easily; i.e. are they listed anywhere (had a quick look and could not see any such list),
Cheers,
Dave C

Hey Dave,

Yes there is...On the left side of the front page under Genres on the bottom of the list click on Browse All...under Featured go to Free Tracks
Then on that page you wil get a page of all free track albums
On top of album covers there is a pull down window of sort by..
use most popular and hit enter and it will sort all the best free stuff.

Not all are Free albums but there are many free tracks by really good bands to
explore.

My recommends for free albums.

Besides the Bis Sampler are:

Bloodshot Records Free Label Sampler 2007: Diverse alternative/country/punk/
rock

harmonia mundi eMusic sampler: Beautiful Classical sampler (Dave,I think
you would like this one better than the Bis)

I Celebrate Their Entire Catalog:Surbuban Home Records
great label of rockin alternative country stuff.

Oneida-Seeds of Contemplation..new band Oneida offers their whole new album, of retro 60's/ Indie blend..I liked this one a lot

And check out all the free tracks from the varoius bands.

Take care,

Nightfly

Nightfly, you are the man. Not only do you get me the list but you give me an excellent run down of what's on it. Downloading Oneida as we speak,
Cheers,

Nightfly;

I am about a month late on reading this topic but wanted to thank you for letting us know about the BIS free download. I am downloading now after listening to a few tracks.
I have been a member of Emusic for a few years and knew nothing about the free tracks. I have to keep my eyes open.
I love free stuff!!

Thanks - Mark
