Emusic is Great for Indie Music - 04-27-2007, 07:57 PM

I have been using Emusic.com for many years..even though they do not have
The Big Labels...They have a wonderful catalog of very diverse music that
you can check out at a very fair price..Thay have the best International music(Reggae Ska Latin African) The old Prestige catalog for Jazz. New great Rock bands on Indie labels that we all reconize..Main stream guys like Tom Waitts who have abandoned the big labels to create their own..
Great old Blues recordings and all the great Independent Blues labels
like Alligator, Blind Big, Archoolie extc. and for 23cents a download it great to check out some new music that you might not have checked out for $18.98..(many are imports only)..
Give it a try.. 25 free downloads with no commitment for future use.
They also have monthly plans for 20-15-10 dollars..
I believe its 70 for $20
I was using this site and then discovered AOM3 then I was open to everything in music...If anybody can help me hook up with a voucher for AOM3..I would appreciate it...any questions about Emusic let me know.
Take care....Nightfly

Hey, good suggest, but it's not free. They ask you your credit card info and you MUST choose a kind of debt (monthly). First 14 dloads are free.

indeed emusic is expensive, but atleast you won't have any legal concerns. Good place for indie music, highly recommend it. Good review Nightfly.

H.. It is 25 free downloads here is the link and you can cancel before the month is up http://www.emusic.com/promo/new25fre...FRxnSgodtxPbtA
They have monthly subscription but you will not be charged if you cancel before the month..They have excellent customer service.. NO DRM ..
70 Downloads for $20 =28cents per download.. I stand corrected from my
previous post..I believe it is the best American music site that is going in the right direction and have been around for awhile..Nothing beats allofmp3's
model ,but there is stuff there I guarantee you will find no where else and it truly is a adventure in finding New music..The catalog is very deep and is updated daily ...great International stuff...and new Indie Bands..they need
our support more than these spoiled superstars, and this is how they reach the masses...quite successfully might I add ...give them a shot.

I agree - 05-14-2007, 08:28 PM

Their customer service is excellent and for a site that has no legal worries at all you can't beat them. They even sent me a link to their 'supersize' accounts - where you can get 300 tracks for $75 a month. The interface is great too. Let me know if anybody wants the link for the 100, 200 or 300 track accounts

If you register (the first time) using http://www.emusic.com/cowon you get 100 free song instead the normal amount. You need to enter credit card data though, but you cancel that after the free downloads if you want. Only one registration for one card it seems.

I got this link when i bought a cowon (iaudio) media player, but they don't ask any serial number or anything to verify you are a cowon owner

Truly excellent first post!! Followed your link and am now half way through the 100 free downloads. Will probably give e-music a month or two after the trial runs out, but can not see myself sticking with it for the long term because of the relatively high cost (compared to the RU sites). Also , I do not like the concept of a fixed number of tracks to download. I virtually never just download a few tracks, it is almost always the whole album (but that is just me).
Cheers,
Dave C

I like Emusic as well - 08-23-2007, 07:39 PM

If you sign up for a year, you get a discount, and the per song cost is approx $0.22. I have the 75 song a month plan. The balance resets every month, so use it or lose it situation.

The catalog nicely complements Mp3sparks. It is not just indie music, you can also find jazz, blues, folk, world music, etc that you don't get on Mp3Sparks. The EMusic online experience also seems to work better for me, I seem to be able to hunt around and find cool stuff a little more successfully on Emusic....but that's just me

The format is 192kbs vbr mp3, not my fav, but OK. My biggest complaint is the lack of full song preview.

I just discovered this thread. eMusic is also great for international music, especially Latin. I am continually discovering amazing music there that I had never heard of and that you can't get anywhere else. Yesterday I found an Ecuardorian singer who records on a Norwegian label with a Norwegian chorus (Susana Pena with the choir Skruk) - I bought 2 albums and have already listened to them several times and then I purchased a Skruk album on aom3 that they made with musicians from Azerbaijan - beautiful Azerbaijan folk songs sung in Norwegian! There's no way I would have discovered this beautiful music without eMusic. I now have a catalogue of Brazilian music that far surpasses what my Brazilian friends have - I'm constantly introducing them to Brazilian artists they'd never heard of. I also had 100 free downloads through CompUSA and then another under my husband's name (just use a different credit card). I got another free 50 tracks for introducing eMusic to a friend who ended up subscribing. I get 65 tracks a month for about $.23 a track and pay an annual amount. I also have a booster pack you can buy for when you go over your monthly allotment. I strongly recommend this site for music you won't find anywhere else. I scroll their daily additions and that's how I discover new music. I don't mind the 30 second previews, you get enough of an idea. Sorry this post is so long!
