And since were buds ...it's cool................
Thank you for your understanding Nightfly, unlike your goodself I am no thread hijacker, am I mistaken or are the first two words of this thread "Rolling Stones"?

Now if I had talked about Megadeth, that would have been a hijack!

OK Chris...but The Forum is Emusic not Stones at mp3sale
you are trying to get me with semantics .....it won't work...
off To the Music Forum with you or the MP3sale Forum......

But as far as I'm concerned talking about the Stones anywhere
is OK...
And One of the Benies of being a Mod(and there aren't
many) is to post anywhere's......

I always justified it as the Stones answer to the Beatles Sgt. Pepper as they were released about the same time. This was a time of heavy drug use for all involved, particularly Keith and Brian Jones. This was reflected in a lot of the cuts.
This was about the time that I started to back off the Stones and not buy everything blindly that came on the market. They actually started to lose me after Between the Buttons but I continued to buy up through Beggars Banquet and much less frequently after that.
Each to their own, but I'll bet I have not listened to the complete album in at least 30 years. Maybe I'll give it a try again.

Thanks for bringing back some memories!

Well Mark, you're probably right. I lot of critics seem to agree with you. I just thought Satanic Majesties was such an interesting and weird album when I was a kid, what with the 3D cover as well. Mind you, I also preferred Revolver to Sgt Pepper . . . but that's probably another (ancient) thread.

The Beatles also preferred Revolver and I agree with you it's a better album,
though Sgt.Pepper was groundbreaking.

And on SM it creates a certain vibe and about 3 classic songs, but not
a overall good listen.

Abbey Road > Revolver > Sgt. Pepper

I agree with your order, and side 2 of Abbey Road is a true masterpiece
of it's genre.

Abbey Road is definitely excellent. I also liked Rubber Soul - that's when they started to get more adventurous.

And in the end
The love you take
Is equal to the love you make.

Aren't those the absolutely dreamiest lyrics ever?

Hijack!

How did a Stones thread turn into a Beatles discussion

Anyway, to continue the theme, I reckon Sgt. Pepper is very over-rated and The White Album is very under-rated, IMHO
