However, mp3.ua is still down. Sad thing. I liked the site due to the cheaper prices compared to gomusic.ru and the ability to refill your balance with smaller amounts as on both gomusic and mp3search.ru.

Well, but I remember that I read on mp3.ua when it was still up that they accumulate, but sadly can not pay royalities to the copyright holders as there is currently no "collecting" organization in the Ukraine like ROMS / NP-FAIR in Russia. Nevertheless, mp3.ua is hosted in Russia on the same IP range as gomusic and mp3search, not in Ukraine. Perhaps that could be the issue? Can't stop to believe the current downtime of mp3.ua must somehow have the same cause as the recent mp3sparks struggles.

I'm pretty sure we have linked to that story earlier - without too much response from anybody I read it on Digg a few months back (not near the front page, though) - but earlier this evening it was brought to my attention again

Remember that MP3Sparks is - or dare I say was - NP FAIR licensed too (just like the majority of the other R/U stores)

it's very unfortunate that there is no archive.org or google cache version of http://www.mp3.ua/copyrights.aspx available.

I would swear that as recently as in mid-december this site read that mp3.ua is sorry that they can not pay royalities to copyright holders although they would like to as there is no organization in the Ukraine for this, however, they are accumulating the money and so on.


So, if NP FAIR threw in the towel, that is really bad news.

After all, I really liked mp3.ua as I was a fan of gomusic.ru (the sites were identical 99%, same cataloque etc. - the mp3.ua <=> gomusic <=> mp3search.ru thing, you know...), but in recent times, mp3.ua was *much* cheaper and minimum payup was something small as $3!


BTW:

Could you edit the "Sticky: Cheapest Russian/Ukrainian Online Music Stores (By Track)" thread? Please note that while gomusic and mp3search.ru are sister sites, songs are cheaper at mp3search.ru since a song over there is $0.19 (that is, USD!) compared to 0,19cu=0,19Euro=0,28$ at gomusic. The thread doesn't reflect this correctly .

But the MP3.ua article I already knew because I read it on Digg.com in September entering MP3Sparks or AllOfMP3 in the search field

I will correct our comparison table on cheapest price per track according to your suggestion - thanks for directing my attention to this
