There was a program I used called UltraSurf that was basically a proxy program to allow access to US sites. That stopped working. But I've now found a replacement:

You have to make sure you pretend you're a US customer, though. So if you have address details stored on Amazon, you have to delete those and add a US-based one (I use a friend's). They don't seem to check the card you use is registered at the address you give.
Hotspot Shield also works for accessing tv sites such as Hulu. Hope this helps.
