Wink What To Do If Your ISP Is Blocking Your Favourite Online Music Stores - 12-01-2007, 02:27 PM

This small change in your Windows settings has given a lot of forum members their internet freedom back - AND it's FREE

Do like this:

Open Network Connections
Right click your specific net connection (LAN?) and choose properties
Choose Internet Protokol (TCP/IP) and click properties
Choose Use The Following DNS-server addresses
Default DNS-server : 208.67.222.222
Alternative DNS-server : 208.67.220.220
Click OK
Click OK
Done

Finally: Remember to clean out your cookies.

Lightbulb One More Tip - 12-04-2007, 07:26 PM

If you're still having trouble after switching to OpenDNS, then it could be that you need to flush your DNS:

Press down the Windows tab on your keyboard and hit R

Write: cmd (Click OK)

Write: ipconfig /flushdns (Press Enter)

Please notice the space between the g (in ipconfig) and the slash (/)

Lightbulb Orsn - 12-04-2007, 07:34 PM

You could also try to use the ORSN servers instead of OpenDNS:

Follow the instructions of the first post of this thread - but enter the below numbers instead of the OpenDNS ones:

Default DNS-server: 217.146.139.5
Alternative DNS-server: 62.157.101.211

Does it make any difference if you have a router? And if you find it is Cogent blocking you, will the ORSN servers or Open DNS help?

Thanks,

Hi Sundancer.

No, it won't help, I'm afraid

Please read this Forum Announcement: http://www.aom3.org/forum/allofmp3-m...uncements.html

But I'm glad you asked - I ought to have put a copy of that announcement in this thread, when I created the announcement

Thanks for answering my questions, solaris. I read a lot about OpenDNS last night after I left you the message, so I switched over anyway even though it won't help with 'sparks. I sure wish cogent would unblock or 'sparks would move.

Cool 01-08-2008, 12:08 AM

So open DNS did not do the trick for me, however I am still using it now. I instead went over to Tor: anonymity online and downloaded their package for windows. After doing that I am now able to access mp3 sparks. So just for the record I am using open DNS along with tor.

I live in San Diego California with cox service provider. I called just to make sure they were not filtering the site. I told the technician that I couldn't log onto mp3sparks.com and he said it was loading fine on his end. They also said that they are currently not filtering any websites. I don't know how true this was but they did tell me what artists were on the front page of sparks right now.

One quick note for firefox users that choose to use tor. When firefox is loaded you will find the open proxy settings under:

tools/options,

click the advanced button,

then click on the network tab,

followed by the settings button.

The window that pops up is where you set your proxy IP number to use.

Hopes this help

Hi broken22 and welcome to the forum

OpenDNS "only" works, when ISP's try to filter the access to certain web sites - not when the backbone does the filtering

But a great first post, by the way - very helpful

hello there, i feel that this is a great thread, but i definitely have a couple questions. i guess i'm considered a newbie when it comes to troubleshooting with this type of stuff...

i've read some of the information about the OpenDNS but i don't know if it would make a difference for my set-up. but, when i went to actually activate the OpenDNS i went into Network Connections and noticed that i have 2 different options where i could change the IP addresses... TCP/IPv6 and TCP/IPv4. which one would i change??

also, i noticed that what broken said... we have similar situations. i'm also in san diego and using cox. i did the run cmd action on my windows and cogent never popped up in my logs, so i'm not sure if thats my problem. so... this tor: anonymity thing... of course i didn't understand much of it, but... there are quite a bit of warnings when downloading and using. how is it going so far for you broken? i'm just a bit skeptical in using, when especially i have no idea how it will affect everything else that i do on my computers.

sorry for the amateur questions and concerns but i think everyone is frustrated with mp3sparks.com at this point! thanks in advance for all your help!

Hi jessiew and welcome to the forum

I don't have Vista myself but TCP/IPv6 is the new Internet Protocol Standard for Vista. TCP/IPv4 is the one XP uses.

So I guess you have Vista installed now

Forum members (and tech. geeks ) gm, rolly or Cornutopian will certainly be able to give you a much more thorough explanation
