I just registered and funded an Iomoio account. I'm really happy with it so far. I was able to download tracks from Jesus On Extasy and Ladytron and F.A.Q. I am so relieved I have an alternative to Allofmp3.

I am in the U.S. and was able to fund it via Paypal. Initially, the funds did not clear. and my balance was still 20 cents. Annoyed, I tried the Paypal virtual Mastercard. So here's the status of both deposit attempts:

1. After about 15 minutes, the first Paypal deposit was credited. I received a nice bonus.
2. After about 1 hour thus far, the virtual Mastercard (via Paypal) deposit is still in a pending status. I don't think this will succeed because I see no transaction record for it in my Paypal account.

The search function doesn't work for me on the site, however. I have to tediously click on "Catalogue" and then navigate page after page to a specific artist. But at least I have access. I'm not going to complain. Hopefully, they'll improve it in due time.

Allofmp3 / Alltunes was the best. It is a shame we can't fund it anymore. I still use the downloaded fat client to preview music. 30 second previews are not sufficient for me, and that client is the only one I know that allows previews of the entire songs... So to me the Alltunes client is still an invaluable tool.

I have an account with mp3fiesta.com but I don't like the erratic quality of the songs. But again, I can't complain. It's still a better option than iTunes and more importantly I can fund it with a virtual Mastercard number.

The best alternative appeared to be Mp3sale.ru. I love the interface but how the hell do you fund it without disclosing your date of birth, your Social Security number etc!!! Wow, it's like they are asking for you to provide an easy Identity Theft Care Package to them.

Nice summary. Like you, I also use Alltunes for full song previews. At present, I have funded three sites: Iomoio, Legalsounds, and Mp3Sale. For the first two, I used a Visa debit card. For Mp3Sale, I used PayPal (about a month ago). The PayPal option appears sporadically on the site, so be patient.
