News! News! News! - 06-04-2008, 09:29 PM

Good news from millisong.com!

We are starting charts in two weeks. About 25% of charts are already exists on our site.
Other we getting directly from U.S. fan. They will be converted to mp3 not by us but meeting
100% our requirements. And chart link on the first page will work.

We have analyzed forum messages for the past months and noticed: we have one of the best qualities but
lack of catalog. So we are missing pop music, classical one and etc But we have thousands of them.
We have around 40 000 - 60 000 disks to be digited. It will take up to 11 months.
So if you are looking for special cd, the chance to find it - small

This situation must be solved.
So we took a decision. Customers, with balance more than 100usd can give us an order for desired cd.
(We didn't do these in previous). Of course, we are not 100% sure about it. So we are waiting
for negative feedback from your site . What can we do? About 70% of charts, 90% of jazz, 80% of pop music,
rock and classic music - 75%. To be honestly, we didn't do classical music at all, but we have them about 30 000.
How to place an order? Just send an email to support@millisong.com with artist-album name-year (if you know).
How long will it take? Avg. up to 5 working days. Why so long? Because we need to find it, convert it, place it.
The price will be the same! If we will not find them? Life is life. We are not wizards. Otherwise we will change
the brand to mp3sparks.com . We will do our best!

Good news. We have replaced hardware. So all hangs, halts became history, we hope.

Am I correct in understanding that you must have a $100 balance in order to make a
request?

Thanks for updating us on your latest situation, Michail.

It`s great that you have so many discs waiting to be added to your site, understandably this will take time to complete.
I appreciate all your efforts and your excellent customer service.
And your offer to find discs wanted by your best customers is a good innovation too.

I have a number of queries - 06-07-2008, 08:34 AM

Dear MichailPB,

I've got a number of queries about this Millisong initiative

OK, so what if I pony up the $100 into my account and I give you a list of requests and you don't have them? Just to rattle off a few names:

Do you have Dardanelles, The Cops and Boy Prostitute? This is a fair amount of money to park at one site when you are requesting music that you don't even know that your site actually has?

I mean "life is life"? That's not the right business attitude at all. If you want people to invest so much money then you have to give your customers a better outcome than a "life is life" response.

The problem with this is that some us at this site have large music collections and when that happens you start to look for less well-known acts, or more obscure releases.

In sum my unresolved questions are:

1. More certainty is needed that orders requests can be filled
2. The threshold of $100 is too high, you'll just lose too many customers to other sites and p2p and,
3. Are we talking about maintaining an ongoing balance of $100 or where a person has purchased the aforementioned amount of music. Do you actually mean that a customer has to continually park $100 to gain access to the request part of Millisong?

ATLG;

I totally agree.!
To invest 100 bucks without much assurance is insane.
The real amount should really be $25, in my opinion.
In reality, I am perfectly content to work with what they have, catalog wise, until they could catch up with their uploading/digitizing.
Sorry Millisong, but I for one am not willing to "pay" to make requests

Mark

Most shops offer this service for free, for just being a member.
I know because I have gotten many requests from the various sites
myself.Soundsbox is excellent at doing this.

An extra payment so you can spend your original balance - 06-08-2008, 03:03 AM

Dear Markistan,

It's not about one, twenty five or one hundred dollars it's the issue of having to pay for a service with no guarantee of a successful outcome. And in an unsuccessful search what happens with the deposited money…it stays with the vendor.

This is my situation with the money I deposited with Millisong, I cannot find any music to spend the money on. And now the company wants me to deposit more money so they can search their pre-catalogued collection so I can spend my original balance. It's just not right and it just not on.

I think sites have this whole 'x balance needed to request' to make sure that they don't get tonnes of requests that takes a lot of time to consume. I agree it'd be nice to not have to have a balance, because I'm more likely to signup if I go hey, you don't have Album Xyz, but get it for me and ill pay you for it.

But archon.thelawgiver, why did you deposit money without looking around Millisong first to see if it offered anything you wanted? And they don't require you to have a balance to "search their pre-catalogued collection". Its just to request.

Remember someone has to pay for it. And if its some rare album no one has heard of, chances are they won't get many sales on it.

Read their post carefully - 06-08-2008, 03:13 PM

It was the only site that consistently had a high quality collection. And I didn't want to do p2p again.

What Millisong are saying is that they will see if your request is in their collection but as they are also saying we'll keep your money even if we DON'T have your request. You need to read the post carefully because that is what they are saying. Sure you can buy something else but that's not what you're paying for.
