Can't get to Lavamus or download - 07-03-2008, 11:31 AM

A few days ago I added some money to my Lavamus account for the first time in a long time and ordered about 175 tracks. Downloading went fine until with 19 tracks left the connection dropped out (I was using FlashGot to download). Now I can't get through to either the Lavamus home page with Firefox or resume downloading with FlashGot. I have tried several times over the past couple of days.

A friend in London (who uses the same ISP as me) can get through with no problems and I have done a traceroute which shows that I get as far as citytelecom.ru but the final hop to the Lavamus servers times out. If I do a traceroute from another server based in London it gets through to that final hop without problem as does my friend in London. Is it possible that I being blocked by the Lavamus servers for some reason? Perhaps because I used a download manager to download all of these tracks in quick succession?

All the tracks have been paid for and I still have money in my account so I am a bit pissed off at the moment.

I have tried all the tricks on my computer - cleared cookies, use OpenDNS, rebooted etc. I have even tried a System Restore to before the download but no difference. I don't think it's a problem with my computer as I can still get through to MP3Sparks and other Russian sites. As far as I can tell Lavamus is the only site I can't get trhough to.

Any help Lavamus? Can you check if your servers are blocking my IP?

Thumbs down I AM being blocked. Why? - 07-03-2008, 11:51 AM

Following on from the above posting I have just installed TOR which masks IP addresses while browsing and I can now get through to Lavamus without problem - so the Lavamus servers ARE blocking my IP. WHY????

I have paid for all the tracks I downloaded and I have money in my account.

Sort this out please Lavamus, I don't particularly want to have to use TOR to get music that i have paid you for.

I tracerouted lavamus and I'm assuming you are refering to the hop before last

Code:
217.65.1.246	te2-3.cerber.citytelecom.ru
Chances are this is nothing to do with lavamus, lavamus will probably only have control of the termination point, the very last hop.

If you google that hostname you'll notice its not used for just lavamus.com.

So it is probable their service provider blocking you, if that is what is happening at all, could be many number of things, your ISP, your HOSTS file, may have be on some blacklist on any anti-virus/safety program etc.

You could try contact Citytelecom or maybe see if lavamus is kind enough to do it on your behalf, but as you point out I don't think lavamus is in the business of blocking people who give em money so!

Thanks for your comments. I can get through to - 217.65.1.246 te2-3.cerber.citytelecom.ru - okay, it's the hop after that (the final one) where I am being blocked. This is 217.65.9.225 DH-DBL003 which shows as datahouse.su, I am not sure if this is a server at citytelecom or somewhere else.

Don't see how I can be on some sort of blacklist or have anti-virus issues since the problem occurred mid-way through downloading tracks. My only thought is that downloading so many tracks over a couple of hours may have caused the server at their end to suspect some sort of 'attack'.

As I say I can get through by masking my IP and I can then download tracks by right-clicking and using 'Save as ...' but this is a long-winded and pain in the arse way of doing it. I just want to use a download manager as I always have done.

Thanks Solaris and a huge thankyou to Lavamus - 07-03-2008, 05:53 PM

Thanks Solaris for that (didn't know about all those sites) although it didn't help me out as all the sites end up on the same server, so I am blocked from them all ....

HOWEVER ....

A HUGE thank you to Lavamus who PM'd me, then PHONED ME(!) to explain that my IP address had probably been caught by mistake by their blacklist and promised to get it lifted this evening when their admin came in. What's more they added 10 FREE tracks to my account. That's what I call service.

Can you imagine ITunes or Napster giving service like that - probably would never had heard from them!

Thanks again Lavamus - hope to finish downloading later.
