But free? I'd be a chickens**t ingrate to be given free credit and then demand even more free credit.
Thanks for clarifying! I guess I've read your post about not wanting to be reimbursed in a more negative light. Sorry for my misintepretation.

I guess the skys over my head are a bit cloudy today. Tossing out my umbrella and my foghorn immediately. Time to bring back the sunshine

.tar files from Lavamus -please help - 07-04-2008, 03:12 AM

I screwed up due to lack of download instructions. See below my email to Lavamus and their reply. Now I do not want to download software to open .tar files. Please Lavamus - give me another chance to download those same files as mp3.

Reply from lavamus:

Hello,
Please use WINRAR in order to open your archive.
It can be downloaded from download.com
The files are not compressed. They just come in 1 folder that looks like archive.
Thank you

My email to Lavamus:

I just downloaded Coldplay Vive la vida. I clicked download as archive though I don't know what that means. It downloaded to my computer with a .tar extension. My computer doesn't know what that means. I did get Media player to start playing it but when I tried to burn a cd I get error saying files full of errors and can't burn. I thought this was supposed to be downloaded as mp3 files.
What should I do.
Thanks

if you don't want to download archive, why have you created it ???

you can download your tracks without archive, just click on it (or use a download manager)

Hi furrball

1. Download winRAR from here: WinRAR - Free software downloads and reviews - CNET Download.com and install it

2. Right click on your .tar file and choose either Extract Here or Extract To...

3. Choose the path

4. And VOILA - there you have Coldplay - Vive La Vida

I said in the email I didn't know what archive meant. I checked all the files and then Lavamus said you can download them as an archive. Huh? Stupid me thought I had to do this to download them. Poor poor instructions.

To the next poster - I said I don't want to download any software. That means I don't want to download winrar or whatever.

Hi Furrball, I can understand your frustration about the instructions as I have been there myself with various situations. I can also understand your frustration around not feeling heard as people are suggesting things that may not be what you are looking for.

Perhaps you can also consider expressing some gratitude to those who were attempting to help. Your response was a bit testy.

Appreciating you,
Chamlin

furrball, I'm very sorry to have insulted you in such a devastating way and I surely won't make such an appalling mistake again. I just hope you somewhere down the line will be able to forgive me

I honestly hope you're all right - but in case you're not, I wish you a speedy recovery - and again accept my sincerest apologies for mistreating you and/or your friends and family in such a traumatic way

Sorry (again), furrball - I honestly don't know what I was thinking, when I wrote my above message...
