Some of the tracks I've bought have come with baud rates even higher than the advertised 192 kbps. And yet I was still charged only fifteen cents. Kewl!
On the other hand, I've downloaded tracks that had hiss, or popping noise, or distortion.

After puzzling over this, I've come up with three possible explanations for this --
1)
Lavamus sometimes is creating MP3 files from vinyl, and isn't telling us.
2)
Lavamus sometimes is making MP3 files from CDs that were bootlegged from vinyl, and isn't telling us that they know this or suspect this.
3) Converting a CD song to an MP3 file involves lots of real-time technical decisions, and some of the
Lavamus "rippers" are badly trained.
I still recommend
Lavamus. At their best, a track from
Lavamus is better than the same track from MP3Sparks. On the other hand, Sparks gives you no unpleasant surprises, and
Lavamus does.
