Background Info

This review covers three music sites; GoMusic, MP3Search & MP3.UA. Whilst at one time the three sites were identical, sorry, MP3.UA uses an orange colour scheme whilst the other two use red, a little graphic investment appears to have been made to the GoMusic site possibly with the objective of making it the ‘lead’ site. A quick point to note being that despite the similarity between the sites logons are site exclusive.

You might claim I’m being lazy in covering off three sites within one review. I prefer to think I’m killing three birds with a single stone and, in my kind, considerate, way saving you from having to read three individual reviews and becoming confused because, without being warned, they all seem kinda similar. OK that’s my case for the defence sorted.

Before I start, and many of you probably wish I would, the ground rules which you should consider before reading this review; GoMusic offers the most functionality and this review is essentially based on that site. The other two have almost exactly the same content, just less functionality.

Right let’s get going.

At the first encounter GoMusic (and its two relatives) strikes you as being a somewhat clunky, functional, site. It’s not the most graphically impressive and its own download software is claimed, only, to work with Internet Explorer. I suppose one would categorise the site as the ‘Plain Jane’ of the music sites however Jane does hold certain appeal which I will come to as the review unfolds.

GoMusic offers music for download under a licence issued by “FAIR” (Federation of Authors and Rights holders for Collective Management of Copyright in Interactive Regime). Under this licence they claim that 50% of their revenue, minus taxes, is paid to FAIR. With a fairly costly track price of about $0.26 it would appear that their claim may well stack up.

The top 3 user countries for GoMusic are:
Russia 13.5 %
United States 10.3 %
Ukraine 4.8 %

From personal experience, and it could be that GoMusic isn’t the most complex site; it seems to be one of the more robust sites. I can’t think of a time in almost a year when the site has had down time, although I’m sure someone will wish to disagree.

I disagree with most of what has been said about this service but felt it worth while to add that my last few visits I have been rewarded with free music each time. Many many cds are now free and pricing is better than most others. The catalog is better than described and service is always fast and uninterrupted. Quality is good... most is 192kbps or better.

have used goMusic for a long time, and am reasonably happy.
very often they had tracks nobody else had. also, when others had
those not-to-be-talked-about payment problems, they almost never
had one.

but cubby, free tracks or entire CDs i have never seen: how did you
find them? pls share that knowledge, would make goMusic even better.

A good service
While I have had so many problems with most of the other sites listed here, this one has been steady. New music regularly added.
The site excels with dance, techno, industrial, rock, pop metal however it lacks a little in classical. These are my taste so I don't know much about other forms of music.
Music selection is good better than a lot of sites reviewed here that seem to get more praise. Many of the other sites lack catalog yet I'm surprised they rate higher than Go music.
I think the review given isn't very good. This is a more than decent site.
In fact this is the only site I keep a balance in and have had very little problem ever using credit card.
Currently using Londan based Dotpay.
It is a mix of bitrate and that is my only gripe because a lot of VBR with a increase recently in lower than 192 or huge peaks and vallies in bitrate on the same album. A lot of new stuff is below 192, yet also plenty above and not rare for entire albums to be at 320. YOu don't have a choice. All is mp3.
You will on occasion get a bonus hit of $10.00 (USD) bonus or free tracks but its pot luck I have found over the past couple of years.
Tracks are arhived in case you need to download again. Excellent
Speedy downloads and very few problems compared to some of these "sleds" that seem to be always having problems or security concerns.
I think this used to be called MOre music a few years back?
Like all the sites you have to watch things and be careful but all in all.. decent
For payment ease alone this site is worth your time to investigate.

If you are from the US you are out of luck.Used to use it untill
I got locked out, and they are pricy.

And most of the sites DON't lack catalog.Have you been to Mp3sale or Soundsbox
or Mp3xclusive. Massive...you seemed a bit prejudiced in your review ?????
