Background Info

Lavamus.com is a Russian based online music store operating on license # LS-3?-06-60 of the Russian Multimedia and Internet Society (ROMS) and boldly states that downloading from their site is legal regardless of which country their customers are situated.

This license allows it to sell music at a very reasonable price but also means that credit card payment wasn't possible for months, since ROMS isn’t exactly white listed by the big music cartels. The Big Four have put enormous pressure on major American credit card companies Visa and MasterCard not to accept payment from Lavamus (and other Russian/Ukrainian sites under the same kind of licenses).

Since not many people know that Lavamus is part of the vast Lavamus Network (more on this later) these payment issues really hurt their business - dropping from a spot just within the 10,000 most visited sites on the entire Internet down to around 68,000 at the time of this review (but at the time of editing it, Lavamus had gained strength and risen to 35,710)

Lavamus customers primarily come from these countries:

United States 23.3%
Belarus 18.6%
United Kingdom 8.7%
Germany 6.3%
South Africa 3.1%

I will give Lavamus a bit more time before I vote in numbers. With all their free offers/codes/music they desperately want to be loved, but in my honest opinion their bitrates are still a problem for me, we shall see!

the clearer the bit rate issue becomes, and the more solid their search and download function,
the more the rating will improve on an otherwise already good setup.

'music catalogue' is certainly a personal question: if one does not like techno/drum/bass/ska/
rap/new age/hiphop etc etc etc to much, their latest add-ons over the weeks are not to exiting,
but then there is already plenty in the background.

this brings up a question: once one votes here, and things change, can one adjust their vote?

Lavamus review

A very concise review which does rightly throw up a few concerns about Bitrates & the Top 100 Albums "Thank You", but one small piece of info that is wildly innacurate (at least for my account) is that the tracks are only available for 48hrs!! I have just downloaded the 1st track that I ever brought on Lavamus over 2 months ago & it cost me nothing....apart from the 15c that I originally paid for it.

A great review, but I feel that even the slightest error on the review is then vastly unfair to Lavamus, especially if there happens to be more that the one I have spotted

Updated (which it hadn't been for quite some time)

You should mention that if LAVAMUS.COM is down (as it has been now, for over 24 hours), all the clone sites are down too.

Not entirely correct, Tom - www.MP3Wong.com is accessible for instance - it just takes a few minutes to fully load

tried too, most down, or extremely slow to load, and then turn out into 'sorry, technical difficulties,
pls try later' when trying to download. can have nothing to do with ISP (using multiple), as mssg is
from LAVAMUS system directly. just my bad luck? almost a week now? any comments from lavamus
here? used to be here every day, no, but not past three weeks, almost? comments invited.
