Legal in the UK? - 10-07-2008, 10:23 PM

Is all of these russian MP3 istes legal to use in the UK? The tracks seem so cheap.
I also worry as I have read people that have had bad experiences with payments.

Hi thedoguk, and welcome to the forum

That's a good question, and it's been much discussed here. I think on the balance of probabilities that it is legal to import this music into the UK and the US for personal, non-commercial use. The music industry would say otherwise, of course. No-one will really know for certain unless there is ever a court case about it.

As for payments, I don't believe that dealing with these sites is any more risky than with UK or US sites. I certainly have no concerns about doing business with them; although it would be prudent to avoid Mp3Sugar just now

These are, of course, just my opinions. Have a read through some of the relevant threads here, and then you must decide for yourself.

I agree with gluteus maximus on this - and please note that these Russian/Ukrainian music stores use internationally renowned and accepted payment processors, so YOUR money never pass through THEIR hands

And welcome to the forum

But I don't get why.
If I ask "is iTunes legal?" you would reply "yes"

I am guessing by what you say, that these sites are illegal then.

Definitely not if you do your homework each site has a legal clause and tells you how royalties and the specific legalities of your country.

And when people repond to your questions a THankyou is in order..
even if its not a answer you like....

This is my last response to you for such a reason, and you can believe whatever you want.
