I think that it's common knowledge as to where a lot of these sites source their music from.

Probably the only one who is 'legal' is Sparks who offer the majority of their catalogue in variable format including lossless.

Yeah, this has been covered already, here on this community actually lol, but from what the stores claim, they are legally authorized to sell any music they want regardless of where it came from or who owns the rights to said music, as long as they are licensed by a collecting society in their own country and they continue to pay royalties on every track download. Now we all know this is extremely controversial and there are mixed stories floating around the 'net these days regarding the legality of these stores so nobody knows for sure if these sites are still 100% up to par with Russian copyright laws, but the fact that the Russian government seems to be allowing this to continue leads me to believe that this could still be a legitimate licensing scheme (as far as Russia is concerned).

Back in 2007, the original Allofmp3 was ruled legal by Moscow's highest court, but who knows if anything's changed since then????

Regarding Sparks, I do appreciate the fact that they seem to only rip their music library from legitimate cd's which guarantees a much higher quality then some of these other sources, not to mention it eliminates the possibility of fakes being uploaded. It also reduces the chance of things being mislabeled (although typos are inevitable from time to time, but you get what I'm saying ).

I suppose since Sparks appears to be using only legitimate cd's to get their catalog from, that would account for their higher prices (in comparison to some of the cheaper Russian/Ukrainian stores out there). They need plenty of cash so that they can keep buying albums to build up their library .

This is the sad reality in our society nowadays. Most film/music producers lost their interest in producing a movie because the production cost is expensive but the sales are not increasing or worse.
