I think all the outrage by our leaders about "child porn" is to stampede us into giving up our liberties. Ever notice, that when someone wants to do something really outrageous, they bring "children" into it? Because who's going to stand up and say, "No, I oppose your policy, to hell with the children!" I once saw a Nazi propaganda poster that showed a Jewish child molester offering candy to a fresh-faced blond German girl -- the Nazi-poster caption, IIRC, was "We have to stop him!" Attorney General Gonzalez wanted to be granted all sorts of legal powers to spy on, and control, the Internet, supposedly to fight child porn. The New York attorney general wants to make ISPs lock out the entire alt.* Usenet group, supposedly to frustrate pedophiles -- but that also blocks people from going to alt.politics, alt.religion, and alt.impeach.bush.
How do we stop child porn? The same way they did in the 1960s, before the Internet was invented -- by dogged police work and getting warrants. If it's hard to arrest pedophiles, it's hard to arrest innocent people. It's the price you pay in a free society.
Plus, Bushie chose a _horse breeder_ to run the Federal Emergency Management Agency -- and I'm supposed to trust that I won't get spied on by Bushie's pick for the FBI, just because I don't deserve to be?
And how the hell do you even _find_ a snuff film anyway? I think they're an urban legend.
