The Cmpass Test - 12-12-2008, 11:10 PM

On 26 October I attempted to buy a $20 Sparks pincode via Cmpass Pay-by-Call. I made my seven-minute phone call, which cost me £9.58 on my phone bill, but instead of a pincode I got a message "Syntax error."

I contacted Cmpass customer service (many times) but they never replied. I contacted Sparks customer service but they refused to get involved. I seemed I had lost my money.

Someone mentioned on this forum that they had sent a screenshot to Cmpass when something similar happened to them and they had then received their pincode.

Today I got my phone bill, which clearly shows I made the call. It shows the number I dialled and the amount it cost me. I have now sent a scan of my bill to Cmpass. If they reply and supply my $20 pincode (or refund my money) I will be able to report that they are reliable and not an untrustworthy means of payment.

Don't hold your breath.

Hi Gaucho

Sorry to hear about your dilemma. I've always noticed that those in the UK phone to get their pin codes and make payments, so I haven't paid close attention). I looked back to when I last purchased them and I used them twice in June. But I noticed that on their website you have to phone now; their is no other option and I don't know when they cut that out. I used to just be able to put money on it via PayPal and never had any problems -- well, the twice I used it.

I'll be interested in your answer because I haven't used it since, choosing to take the opportunity to top up when phobozad is weaving his magic. Good luck and let us know how you make out. I tried to go through the process but you can't Skype or phone from North America, so I guess that last avenue is cut off for me. Sparks, hmmph! Sorry to be of no help either...

Cheers my friend,
Martinman

Hi Martinman,

It probably seems like I'm being greedy or obsessive over a small amount of money but the arrogance of these people really annoys me. Even when I supply written proof that they took my money, they won't reply.
If this was a store like Millisong, mp3sale or Soundsbox, they would be replying to my post and trying to help, but Sparks just ignore every communication.

At least here I can warn others not to trust Cmpass.

You know what irks me?

Somebody, somewhere is just simply adding to their balance by using their credit card.
Nobody here seems to knows how it's being done, and sparks aren't letting anyone know either.
Maybe for the MM members?

I don't believe for one second the fairytale that sparks is carrying on selling their music, and making any real profits by means of everyone jumping through hoops by making phone calls or buying cigarettes.

They ARE recieving payments for their services, and they are recieving LOTS of those payments, from someone, somewhere, somehow.

I have previously spent enough money with them that they could disclose to me through assistance how I can make a payment to them using a credit card by whatever means.
They haven't and so I've moved on.
Screw them.
I wouldn't use them again ever, even if they came up with the ideal solution to making a payment.

Another thing that irks me about this sparks site matter.
This site originated for the reason to help those find ways to make payments to allofmp3.com,now mp3sparks.com.

Why is there still an multi-section devoted to sparks?
It does absolutely no good and helps no one.
What a useless waste of webspace.
If this site cannot assist in sparks any longer,it should be very publicly noted that it can't,and remove those sections.
Then concentrate on helping people with all the other music sites.

I agree - but what little information there is about Sparks only seems to be available here. They should have a representative here, as most of the other stores do.

Yes, but Cmpass must be controlled by Sparks, don't you think? Do they do anything else?

Nothing is ever Sparks fault

They give you people these half as* ways of payment and then take
no responsibility..I'd have better luck playing poker.

Why don't you put the blame where it belongs with MP3sparks, and their
shady ways of taking your money

I do not use Sparks for this reason.I have options and I use them.

And I'm sorry to say Gaucho that CMpass's lack of response is as good
as stealing your money. You deserved better.

It's definitely theft. They have proof of payment but choose to do nothing about it. I wonder how many other people's cash they have kept?

We have heard of other complaints, you are not alone.(that doesn't help you any..)But I am glad that you have moved on to other more reliable sites.
