These are my finding so far:
  • On my home pc, the country drop down box on the CMPASS site is blank
  • On my pc at work the drop down box shows the countries
  • Calling from my mobile worked but cost more than the price shown. I used a pay-as-you-go. The $10 voucher cost me about £8.50

Angry 'K, what am I doing wrong? - 05-27-2008, 02:47 PM

I'm trying the CMPASS option but getting exactly nowhere. It says that I can use Skype, but I keep getting "internal errors" trying a UK number, and it thinks that the DE number is a "1-900" number (which I guess it is) and won't put the call through. I've tried my land line, but both UK and DE numbers report being disconnected. I'm using the US outgoing code, 011, and the country codes for the UK (44) and for DE (49). The site I found that gave me the right outgoing and country codes, HowToCallAbroad.com, also had a list of city codes. Are these necessary? Please help!

Smile Success - twice, using mobile - 05-27-2008, 03:04 PM

I've just managed to top up my account twice, each time with $10, using a mobile phone in the UK. All I had to do was select UK (not GB) as the country and then wait patiently for the nearly 4-minute call. Each call cost me £5.40.

My account's been credited each time with $10, plus my 20% bonus of $2, plus a further bonus of $1.

Let's hope this way lasts for a while.

Help! - 05-27-2008, 05:24 PM

Ok, I just tried the cmpass phone option from the US.

I changed the country to UK, got the phone number, called, entered my card number, expiration date etc, and then got a 'the area code has changed to xxx' and disconnected.

So basically I entered my card details and then got disconnected before getting any type of claim id.

Now what?

Ask a UK member of this forum to get a pin code for you and send him the money by PayPal.

I think the message I got asking for credit card details was actually AT&T asking for a calling card or credit card to pay for the call, as opposed to cmpass.

I've sent them (cmpass) an email asking about it. Anyway, after trying a bunch of different phone number/country code combos I can't get it to work from the US at all.

It doesn't work from the US. But I might be able to help you. If you are interested send me a private message.

I'm having no luck. From my mobile got that calls to the number are barred. From the landline get a blank tone (number out of service?)

They can get the codes and mail them to our US friends That should work just fine I guess.

I'm pretty sure that Toll numbers cannot be reached from outside the country they have been set up for. They don't operate in the same way as local numbers unfortunately. The only choice is to get someone in one of the countries to do it for you, or hang tight...

Got through. I think it's because I wasn't on BT. Added 1280 in front of the number to get a BT line and got through.
