FYI: Paying w/Visa vs. Mastercard - 08-24-2007, 03:57 PM

It has taken me several days to finally add more money to my mp3sparks account. On August 8th I used tor to make a payment with my Visa. No problem. A few days ago I attempted to replenish my account using tor. It would take me to Chronopay, but I continually received a "transaction declined" message after submitting my Visa info. Over several days I repeatedly tried two different Visa cards. I also repeatedly had tor switch to a new identity (new IP address). No dice!

I finally got hold of a Mastercard, and the first time I tried it Chronopay did not like my email address. I was using the same email I had used when I previously payed with a Visa. I tried again with a different email address and received a "transaction declined" message. Feeling discouraged, I had tor switch to a new identity and tried again. It worked!!

It pays to be persistent...

Mastercard is still about 100% reliable- though you may have to play with a proxy to change ip's.
