Lightbulb Useful Forum Tips - 07-17-2007, 03:25 PM

If you have been away from your computer, come back and want to see if anyone has made some new posts, then left click (if you are a PC user) on New Posts (see attachment)

A useful little tip for some of you, I reckon

Lightbulb And here's another useful forum tip - 07-17-2007, 03:56 PM

If you want to view the newest posts first (instead of the oldest), when you left click on a thread, then change your forum settings like this:

Left click on User CP in the aom3.org bar (see attachment)

Left click on Edit Options in Control Panel (see attachment)

Change to Linear - Newest First in Thread Display Mode (see attachment)

Voila!

Note: And while you're at it, then change the Number of Posts to Show Per Page to 40 instead of the forum default (see attachment)

Lightbulb Buddy list - 07-17-2007, 10:12 PM

If you have a lot of nice friends in a vBulletin forum just like this one, you can create a Buddy List.

Left click User CP in the aom3.org bar (see attachment).

Left click Buddy / Ignore List in the Control Panel (see attachment).

Write the name of a forum member you like in the Add New User to List box and press Save List (see attachment). Continue to do so until you have added all your buddies.

And what is the purpose with such a buddy list? That will be the topic of my next post

Note: I know that there a many ways to add forum members to your Buddy List; this is just one of them

Lightbulb The purpose with a buddy list - 07-17-2007, 10:54 PM

If you have a lot of buddies in a forum (let's say 5), then it is easier to bring out your Buddy List and tick each of the 5 persons and press PM users. Then a brand new message (ready to be written) will appear in another browser window or another tab in your browser. Let's take it step by step:

Left click Quick Links in the aom3.org bar (see attachment).

Left click Open Buddy List (see the same attachment)

Tick the 5 buddies in the Buddy List browser window that now opens and press PM users (see attachment).

Now you can write the message once instead of writing the same one five times (see attachment)

Note: I know this is only one way to do this manoeuvre but it's as easy as anyone

The most useful tip viracocha ever made was the mention of the "New Posts" link on the blue task bar above. I use nothing else now, unless I want to start a new thread.

Search Tip - 08-21-2008, 02:47 AM

The search function in this forum has always been a bit...well...not very good.

For a time this year, Google wasn't indexing aom3.org, but now we're back, with about 24,000 pages indexed.

So now you can search the forum by typing into Google site:aom3.org followed by your search terms.
